CRPS Definition:

Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic pain condition most often affecting one of the limbs (arms, legs, hands, or feet), usually after an injury or trauma to that limb. CRPS is believed to be caused by damage to, or malfunction of, the peripheral and central nervous systems.

My definition…it sucks! Yes that’s what I seem to be saying a lot lately. I have had CRPS for over a decade and it never gets easier. Oh sure, you get used to trying to deal with the pain, thinking of ways to put it into a box and ignore it away, but it is still a daily unwanted friend that you have to deal with. I hate to admit it, but everything I do revolves around it. Even as I sit here writing this,  I can feel my pain increasing and in the back of my head, my brain is saying,” you need to go rest your foot.” It just sucks.

So the latest in my column at Feminine Collective is a short poem talking about what it’s like during a really high pain day. How it emotionally messes with you, even if you are normally a very positive person.

I hope you can take a moment to read it.
